LIVE: 'SEVEN DAYS OF BLUES' with Artie Zaitz & John Jones playing Electric Blues
Thurs 15th Jan from 630pm
For night one of ‘Seven Days of Blues’ its West Coast and Chicago style Electric Blues - as we’re joined by Artie Zaitz (Moses Boyd, The Banger Factory, Camilla George, Maisha) and John Jones. Zaitz is from a family of musicians and was exposed to blues and jazz from an early age – with The Blue Note label having a profound impact on his music bringing together Zaitz's deep blues sensibility and love of jazz, soul and Latin music. Jones is an electric bass and upright bass player, improviser and composer, since graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in 2022, he’s quickly established himself as a first call bassist on the city’s jazz and blues scene.

Creative director, author and culture journalist Justin Quirk has been playing around London for 20 years. For his Saturday night session expect a perfect selection of Balearic, electro soul and the slower end of disco.

Founding member of Mercury prize nominees Young Disciples, Femi Fem has DJ’ed for George Clinton, Prince, Gil Scot-Heron, Janet Jackson, Stella McCartney, Ozwald Boateng & Jade Jagger. Playing party jams and mixing up grooves across Funk Acid Jazz Disco Hip Hop House Afrobeats and a touch of Reggae.

Night two promises Aidan Connell – who’s collaborated with everyone from Razorlight to Mazzy Star and The Black Crowes. His style combines elements of goth, blues, 70’s glam rock and with some serious attitude. Joined by Rex Roulette (musician & producers) whose style is versatile but with serious high energy low key flair. Blissful melodic blues that has graced all seven continents as well as opening for stadium filling legends. Offering a custom-made, uplifting January blues set for bohemians, locals & music aficionados.

For the third night of blues Thirteen stalwart Hayward returns. Pulling together what he calls 'songs in the key of vitamin D' his DJ sets blend old school funk and soul with rock, and he’s played from Soho to Ibiza. As a London based singer and guitarist, Marc’s currently appearing onstage with Black Sabbath - The Ballet.

From her eclectic and feel-good record collection, Lauren’s curated music for brands and festivals around the world, as well as with internationally renowned artists and labels. She’s a globe-trotting DJ in her own right, playing across Europe and the US and just about every East London institution (ever), Glastonbury, Ibiza and beyond.

Night five brings singer/song writer, guitarist Ed Bennett has been an established name amongst the London music scene for years - playing abroad in Europe and the US. Heralding from the bluesy, soulful tones of Muddy Waters, BB King, Howlin' Wolf to the hard hitting classic rock – from covers to originals, solo to full ensembles - an Ed Bennett show is not one to miss.

Performing live and named after the seminal Little Feat tune, the official Regent Sounds covers duo - Truck Stop Girls will play everything from tasteful 60s and 70s folk/country rock to tasteful 60 and 70s folk/country rock.

And then night six sees, for the first time since Denmark Street Sessions, The Debt Brothers playing Thirteen. Promising to bring their love of blues & folk but with a unique London feel, The Debt Brothers line up features Ron Smith, Dominic Gehratgy with Jay Mehler - primarily all acoustic. The line up is an original mix of songs fermented over years promising authenticity and soul.

Finally, the seventh night promises something rare. Gary, known as The Urban Cellist, is not only a cellist, but an American composer and song writer-based UK. A self-described versatile artist, he’s gone from playing banjo and bass in New Orleans to writing orchestral arrangements to playing throughout the UK both in bands and solo. Gary created his own unique sound on the cello with the combination beat boxing and percussive elements on the cello.
